I write this now bewildered that it is the 12th of this month already! Where does the time go?

Clients

Zest 4 Hair website online now . Owner/ Director of local Hairdressing salon Zest 4 Hair in Hervey Bay contracted me to make a very visually appealing website with a modern look.  We have acheived the desired affect with this new website.  Incorporates wmv movie, online shop using a paypal gateway and a tweaked javascript instead of flash to alternate between the images on the home page.  Both customer and designer were very happy with the outcome of this website!

Logo Designs have been coming in, again it’s been great to have such enthusiasm from clients that want to spruce up their business.

Completed logo design for Top Form Alloy Campers.

With such a great response from local business I have decided to dabble in the world of ebay.  Selling my logo design package on there, I guess this is a marketing practice, so I’ll monitor this and see how it goes for the future.

Thanks all again for your continued support reading my blog. And if you are ever in need of my services please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

How to Maximise your Search Marketing Campaigns

Source – > Yahoo Search Marketing

1. Keywords and ad copy should work together
It’s frustrating to type in a search term and see ads that don’t really match your search. To prevent this and encourage relevant clicks on your ads:
• Group your keywords into ad groups within your account and tailor your ad copy so that it’s specific to each ad group
• Use the insert keyword feature. Customers are more likely to click if the ad mentions the keywords that they’re searching for
• Implement the excluded keyword feature in your account to deter nonrelevant queries and keep the quality of your ads high

2. Bid Optimisation
Bid optimisation is about finding the balance between bidding, ranking and daily spending. If you bid too much, you may reach you daily limit after just a few clicks and could be paying more than the click is worth to your business. If your bid is too low you may not get ranked high enough in the search engines. The solution is to assess performance and measure your Cost Per Acquisition (CPA) on an ongoing basis. Your CPA should not be more than a customer is worth to you but should be high enough to ensure that you are ranked well in the search engines. This will ensure that you get the maximum Return on Investment (ROI) from your campaigns.

3. Test Your Campaigns
Be precise, concise and objective. A well written highly relevant ad can be the difference of a highly successful campaign and one that doesn’t meet your goals. Test the keyword, copy and ad structure using the Yahoo! Search Marketing resources. Also use ad optimisation to automatically display the better performing ads more often in the search results. Higher quality ads may be rewarded with a higher ranking in the search results and can lead to a lower CPA.

Six Things you should know about your Google Ranking

A good read from source ->  Free SEO News

Most people know that being listed on Google’s first result page will bring them a lot of targeted visitors and that they will get a lot of sales through that listing.  Unfortunately, some people don’t know how SEO (search engine optimization) works and what they can expect. Some webmasters still expect that their website will be listed on Google’s first result page after submitting the site to Google. That might have worked eight years ago but it does not work today.

1. SEO takes time

You cannot optimize your website today and expect results tomorrow or next week. Search engine optimization takes time. Search engines have to find your new optimized pages, they have to find the new links to your website, they have to update the index, etc.

2. You must change your web pages

If you want to get high rankings for certain keywords, then these keywords must appear on your web pages. It is possible to get high rankings for a keyword that is not listed on your website if lots of other websites link to your website with that keyword. That’s the exception, though. In general, the keywords for which you want to be found must appear on your web pages and they must appear in the right elements on your web pages. For that reason, you have to change the HTML code of your web pages to make it as easy as possible for search engine spiders to parse your site.

3. You need links and you need the right links

Good backlinks are the key to high rankings on Google. Automatically created backlinks usually won’t help your rankings and they even might get you banned from Google’s index. As a general rule, the easier it is to get a link, the less is its influence on the position of your website on Google. The links to your website should be from related websites and they should contain your keywords in the link text. The more attractive your website is, the easier it will be to get good links. Your website should offer linkworthy content that other people can talk about.

4. It’s crucial to choose the right keywords

If you optimize the website of a rock band than you might think that it would be cool if their site was found for the keyword “mp3″. That might be cool but it does not make sense. People searching for “mp3″ can be interested in anything: mp3 players, mp3 decoders, the latest Justin Bieber song, general information about the file format, etc. If these people come to your rock band website, they won’t find the information they are looking for. Optimize your website for keywords that attract the right kind of people. For example “unsigned rock band” or “rock band london”.

5. You must be realistic

Getting on the first result page for a highly competitive keyword such as “mp3″ is possible but your competitors will be old and established websites with a lot of backlinks. It is very difficult to outrank these pages. If you have a website with just a few pages and your competitors have large websites with forums, communities, blogs, etc. then you must improve your website if you want to compete. Search engines want to show the best sites on the result pages. If you absolutely want to get high rankings for a term such as “mp3″, start with less competitive keywords and then proceed to the more competitive terms. Search engines must trust your website before they give you high rankings for very competitive keywords.

6. You must set the right goals

Search engine optimization is not about getting a high Google PageRank (the green bar in Google’s toolbar). It is about getting high listings for the right keywords so that the right people will come to your website. The goal of search engine optimization is to increase your sales. You don’t have to be listed for any possible keyword even if they are related to your business. You have to be listed for keywords that will bring buyers to your site. It usually takes some time to find the best keywords for your website. Running PPC ads and tracking their conversions will help you to find the best keywords.

Ok so it’s been very flatout for the past week. Sorry to all my followers that I haven’t updated this blog.

The Fraser Coast Chronicle Small Business Awards.

I went along to this function Thursday 17th July, and found it very rewarding. A couple of very promising contactd were made and I saw some old friends there too. On the award side it was not all bad news. I got the distinction of “Finalist” out of the 15 or so businesses that were nominated in the “New Business” category. Which basically means I did not win but came top 3 in my category. A big congratulations to “Wild Lotus”, a restaurant in Hervey Bay that took out the category award.

Another mention is the Alexander Lakeside B & B which ultimately took out 3 awards including the top one.  Well done guys, a husband and wife team that really knows their stuff!

Work Contracts.

This week is working on websites for 2 clients with the finished product displayed when they are ready. I am also working on a direct mailing campaign and some small template work for a client.

Service?? Come on Hervey Bay!

There is work out there if you want it. But talking to a few of my clients believe that good old Hervey Bay must not want it.

Great Customer Service has always been drummed into me, “do the most for your customer and they will reward you with return business”. It’s no different working in a grocery store or a mechanic, if you receive bad service are you going to go back to that particular customer, I’d think not.

It’s great to see collegues in my industry, in Hervey Bay, showing customers respect and delivering what’s expected of them. Reading various tweets from people, (yes ben I get yours ALL THE TIME!), it’s great to see people busy.

One particular client gave me the upmost in compliments yesterday, “If all businesses did what you do for me Chris, I am sure the unemployment rate would be non-existant in Hervey Bay”. It gives me a real buzz to deliver a product on time, within budget and without fuss. I know hiccups can occur from time to time, but talk to your clients, they are human just like you. If something goes wrong, discuss the issue and deliver a solution, don’t just put it off till tomorrow and deal with it then. Soon you will find tomorrow there is a cranky customer on the end of the phone asking what the hell is going on!

Come on Hervey Bay! It’s not hard to deliver a bit of customer service!

Rejuvenating Your Business!!
Thursday, June 10th, 2010 | Author: Chris

From the blog of Tom Ninness. At The Niche Report

“Rejuvenation often brings to mind plastic surgery. As a verb, to rejuvenate means ‘to become young again, to return to life or give new life or energy and to develop new youthful features’. Perhaps it is time to do a little plastic surgery on your business.

The root word for rejuvenate is “juvenile”. Juveniles are young children who act and play without the cares of the world. They take chances as they haven’t faced fears at this point of their lives. If they have fears, it’s because their parents put them there. What fears have been implanted into your business?

In order to rejuvenate a company, something new always has to be in the works. In order to keep a company fresh a new product, marketing campaign or sales technique is constantly being introduced. Microsoft or Apple keeps advancing their businesses by creating new innovations on a regular basis. For sales professionals everyday must be exciting and greeted as if a child waiting for Christmas.

No matter what is happening in the economy, creating a challenging and exciting vision for you will make each day a new adventure. What do you want your income to be? What will you need to do to make that happen? What will you need to do different to make it happen? It has been said that to do the same thing over and over and expect different results is a definition of insanity. Stop the insanity! “

Let Chris Jabs Design Services bring your image “up to date” with the latest in design innovations and SEO solutions for your website. Maybe you are after a new logo, and keep your branding consistent through all forms of communication and advertising.

I can show you some new methods of stretching your advertising dollar that bit further to convert enquiries into cold hard cash. Come in and see me today for a no obligation meeting that just might help save your business from getting caught behind.
